Ghana produced roughly 130 tonnes of gold in 2025 — Africa's largest producer, and one of the top-10 in the world. The mining majors operating in Ghana — AngloGold Ashanti, Newmont Ghana, Gold Fields Ghana, Kinross — collectively operate the largest heavy-equipment fleet in West Africa. Much of it lands via UAE.

Ghana's gold output has been at record levels (130+ tonnes/year) supported by high global gold prices and expansion at major mines. Government royalty and taxation regime is stable; foreign majors continue to invest.

Buying cycles

Mining fleet turnover cycles run 5–8 years for smaller units, 8–12 years for the largest haul trucks. Individual mines refresh in waves — Newmont Ahafo did a major fleet renewal in 2024, Gold Fields Tarkwa is due 2026–2027. Aftermarket for retiring units flows into secondary buyers (smaller mining, quarry operators).

The UAE → Tema flow

Jebel Ali → Tema, Ghana bi-weekly sailings, ~14 days transit. Ghana import duty on heavy equipment is 5–20% depending on category, VAT 15%. Ghana Revenue Authority requires the ECOWAS Common External Tariff paperwork. Standard clearance 7–14 days if documentation is complete.
